At a few parts, the book does get overwhelmed with details, but this does not take away any enjoyment. About the Author
Jennifer Beckstrand is the author of three novels in the Forever After in Apple Lake series, about three cousins who find love in Wisconsin's Amish country. Miriam's Quilt is the third book in the series, following Kate's Song and Rebecca's Rose. Jennifer has a degree in mathematics and a background in editing. She has won two writing contests and serves as the PAN liaison in her Utah RWA chapter. She and her husband have six children and live in Utah.

Kate's Song was my favorite book by Jennifer, Wait here it comes until I read Miriam's Quilt.
Ladies you are about to meet the perfect God fearing man that we all want to fall in love with, in this book.
I would love to really meet a man like Seth in real life. Seth is a character that you will never forget he is so forgiving and caring.
I never put this book down once I opened it up and started reading it.
Let me tell you if you have NOT read the Forever in Apple Lake series you need to go pick up all three books, and turn off your phone and get off Facebook and enjoy these books this weekend.
I give Miriam's Quilt 5 stars two times.

Miriams's Quilt

Very good book. Enjoyed reading it. I like to read all Amish Fiction. The price was reasonable also. Recommend it.

The Man She Disdains Might Just Be Her Hero

No other way to say it: Miriam Bontrager is a snob. Then again, you can't exactly blame her. She's the bishop's daughter, and her family is expected to be the community's example. The only problem is, her sister just got pregnant outside wedlock, and her brother's been arrested. Miriam doesn't have much of a support network, unless you count Seth Lambright, the stableman she once actively shunned.
What I liked best about this story was its exploration into the masks we wear before others and what it takes to remove them. I disliked Miriam at first, partially because, I admit, she reminded me a bit too much of myself on a bad day. But the more she warmed up to Seth, the more I sympathized with and cheered for her. As for Seth, I saw him as likeable but immature at times, and enjoyed seeing him grow as a character. His devotion to younger siblings and eventually to Miriam was touching and enjoyable to read.
Once again, even Jennifer's unlikeable characters stick in my mind. Ephriam is a legalistic and boring guy with a big controlling streak, but this also made him a good foil for Seth and a realistic obstacle to Seth's romance with Miriam. Ellie, Seth's stepmother, is the epitome of evil stepmother, but again, a good obstacle. I had to take away a star for her though, because I wasn't convinced Ellie truly was Amish. For example, would she realistically have been allowed to keep her ballerina dancing music box? Why was she never reprimanded for vanity? It seems like she didn't fit into some of the basics of Amish culture and I would've liked more explanation as to why.
That issue aside, Miriam's Quilt was a satisfying end to a particularly good Amish series. I hope Jennifer crafts more communities like Apple Lake.
