A read for the novice exploring pre-cognative abilities.
By Alexandra
Considerably self-serving literature with a pure intention to clarify the many types of phenomenon of human consciousness. Through the topic of premonition, Van Bronkhorst, from the first person perspective, describes the attributes of daily premonitions and the differences between intuition, premonition, "day residue" in dreams, as well as an attempt to discuss how to rationalize pre-cognative experiences. Which is challenging, admittedly.
As a reader with an appetite for mysticism, philosophy and psychology, I had high expectations for this literature. While I was not extremely disappointed, I found that this read more like a personal journal with citations and quotations, rather than an intellectual account of pre-cognative experiences. There is a section about how human consciousness precieves time and space, and the role of our imaginations juxtaposing the time-space perception. It questions the disposition of human will versus fate / destiny. It was not as detailed as I was expecting (the sections are small but slow-paced), but this section, as well as the section about the "breaking down" of intuition into parts such as "the initial moment" of a premonition, to the "feeling" of it, was informative. Rather, Bronkhorst's ideas gave me a revised way to look at these experiences. I recommend this book for those JUST starting to understand our natural born abilities to use several modes of sensory perception, but not to the adept / advanced individual who is already well accostumed to Consciousness and pre-cognative magic.
Three stars for its easy-to-read style, information about accredited institutions that work with pre-cognative abilities, and "personal stories" from the author.
Cons are that sections are summarized, not fully detailed. Too much like a psuedo-scientific diary. Examples of pre-cognative abilities tend to be cheesy, although these types of "daily" intuitions ARE likely to occur (intuitively vague info about making a necessary purchase, vague info about not getting on a plane, etc). Very little effort to connect the reader with their own intuitional abilities by way of suggestion. Much use of "well I did this, but it may be different for you" language.
It is a book about abilities that hard science has difficulty proving. But I feel this could have been written with a more definitive method, perhaps including the connection between psychology and premonitions.

Well-written about everything you would want to know about premonitions
By Carolyn Dargevics
A counselor colleague/friend suggested this book to me when I shared with her the "messages" I'd occasionally get with clients. I am now retired but when I was an active holistic practitioner, I would get out-of-the-blue messages and/or visions from some of my clients. The information I gathered from this book didn't answer why I got those messages but it clarified for me that they weren't premonitions. I have always received fleeting deja-vu events and this book helped explain them, and assured me they were, in fact, deja-vu. This book is very well-written and easy to understand; however, it is packed with a lot of research and detailed information. At times, I could read only a few pages and then have to put down the book to absorb what I had just read and let it filter through my brain. The information has reignited my internal questions about time/space, our existence on Earth, our spirit vs our humanist, and our sensory limitations to what is really "out there." With that renewal, I have returned to studying Buddhism. So, for those who get premonitions and gut feelings, this book will help you understand them, rely on some of them and possibly dismiss others. For me, it confirmed that the messages I received during client visits were valid but more of a release of a spiritual attachment (Spirit Releasement Therapy), not premonitions. And that is good enough for me.

My mother always said "trust your instincts" and she was right. On more than one occasion those instincts have kept me from trouble and helped me find what I have been looking for. She had that gift and so do I. Very helpful and informative book!!
